Participation in pooled analyses
- The cohort is potentially interested in participating in pooled analyses of (European) occupational cohort studies (note pooled analyses also includes remote decentralized analyses that would not require any transfer of primary data as well as meta-analyses).
Main aim of cohort, please briefly describe the main objectives of the cohort
The main aim of the study is to monitor the exposure and health of workers in Great Britain who use pesticides as a part of their job, and to investigate the association between chronic exposure to pesticides and health.
Study design (please select as many as appropriate)
Source population (please select as many as appropriate)
- Industry / occupation-based
Comparators (please select as many as appropriate)
- Internal study population
- External comparison of workers with other exposure
- External study population (includes SMR/SIR studies)
Inclusion criteria
Professional pesticide users working in Great Britain who are members of the National Register of Sprayer Operators (NRoSO), the National Amenity Sprayer Operators' Register (NAsOR), or the Pesticide Users' Health Study (PUHS)
Exclusion criteria

Active (contact with participants) (specify)
- Participants are contacted every year and invited to complete a follow-up questionnaire. A study newsletter accompanies this request.
Death certificate (specify)
- Participants are flagged with the National Health Service Central Registers so that we are notified of any deaths amongst the study participants
Specify: Use of registers
- Participants are flagged with the National Health Service Central Registers so that we are notified of any cancers recorded for the study participants on the Cancer Registries

Comments
The 2021 follow-up is on-going and we do not yet know what the response rate will be. The response rate in 2020 was 45%.

Comments
The study participants use pesticides as a part of their job, and this is the main focus. Most participants are farmers, and most participants will be affected to some extent by virtually all of the other main categories of exposure listed above.
